The millionaire who was promised saqar
Walid bin Mughira

Back in an article published on 29th. Aug. 2024..., I shared a brief anecdote involving Walid bin Mughira, focusing on a moment when Abu Jahal expressed his intention to handle the matters concerning Walid bin Mughira. Now, let's delve into the dialogue between Abu Jahal and Walid bin Mughira.

Abu Jahal headed directly to Walid House, feigning sadness. He informed Walid that the Quraish were gathering funds to support him in his old age, as they had learned that he frequented Muhammad and Abu Quhafa (Abubakar) and even partook of their food, in addition he even praises their words. Walid, upon hearing this, became enraged and exclaimed, "How could they make such claims when they are aware that I am wealthier than them?" Abu Jahal deliberately made that statement to provoke Walid, although everything he said was untrue.

Regardless, Walid continued, if we claim that Muhammad is crazy, no one will trust us. Have you ever witnessed Muhammad behaving irrationally?

Abu Jahal answered, By God, never. Walid said, you say Muhammad is a soothsayer, have you heard him speaking like a soothsayer?,

Abu Jahal replied again, Never, you say Muhammad is a poet, have you heard him reciting poetry, Abu Jahal's reply was again negative. You say that he is a lier, have you heard him telling a lie? Abu Jahal admitted that he has never heard him telling a lie before. They had actually bestowed upon him the title of "the trustworthy" and "the honest."

Abu Jahal adamantly refuted the claims that Muhammad was a fortune-teller, poet, or deceiver, asserting that he had never seen him display any of those traits. With no option left, Abu Jahal had to retract all those accusations, yet he pondered how he would dissuade his people from supporting Muhammad.

He asked Walid what they could say about Muhammad. Walid bin Mughira pondered for a moment, then glanced at Abu Jahal with a frown. He replied, "We could describe him as a magician. Just observe how his teachings create divisions between family members - husband and wife, brother and brother, and even fathers and sons. It's truly a magical influence of faith."

The Holy Quran says,

He pondered and suggested. Death onto him! How [ bad ] is the suggestion he has put forward! [ 19] Again, death unto him! How [ bad ] is the suggestion he has put forward!

[ 20] Then he looked [ to those around him,] [ 21] then he frowned and scowled, [ 22] then turned his back, and waxed proud, [ 23] then said, "This is nothing but traditional magic; [ 24] this is nothing but saying of a mortal."...25)

Even though he knew the truth of the Holy Qur'an, Walid bin Mughira still chose to publicly express negative views about it, stating that it was pure magic and simply the words of a human being. Because of that Allah s.w.t. cursed him and promised him hell fire known as Saqar...

Question: How many people oppose the holy Quran with their negative traits?

End of the story
